Do You Know The Secret of Your Dark Season?
Aaaah 2020, the year as many spoke in it's coming and first quarter as the year of "perfect vision."
From March until now, is a nail-biting roller coaster for mankind worldwide.
I personally begrudgingly learned to add new activities to my basic living routines---I now carry masks at home and in the car, I sanitize every surface before touching, I shifted from visiting with family and friends face to face to Zoom "catch-ups." I use a "kind eyes" smile with my familiar clerks while shopping.
For me, it is a bittersweet DARK time. Yet, the dark season forces me to think creatively about how to connect further and serve people. As a result, it is a blessing meeting and making new acquaintances worldwide!
During this season, I receive greater comfort, correction, and clarity from God's perspective in the midst of HISTORIC circumstances.
His thoughts are not our thoughts,His ways are higher than our ways. [Isaiah 55:8,9]
Dark seasons SHAKE us; dark seasons CHALLENGE us to become SOBER about life priorities; dark seasons cause us to freeze or take ACTION.
- Mothers Against Drunk Drivers [MADD] was birthed from the loss of a child
- Mary Kay Cosmetics was birthed by a woman who felt overlooked in a male-dominated [many that she trained herself] workplace.
- Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation was started by a couple to inspire others impacted by spinal cord injuries.
Your life IS a story; when darkness enters your chapters, you have the choice to freeze, to consider your options soberly, and/or make a choice to ACT.
Seasons of darkness with its emotional challenges will come and go through our lives; the key question is HOW will you choose to respond?
God chose to introduce Jesus Christ The Messiah in a dark season:
"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem village, Judah territory— this was during Herod’s kingship—a band of scholars arrived in Jerusalem from the East. They asked around, “Where can we find and pay homage to the newborn King of the Jews? We observed a star in the eastern sky that signaled his birth. We’re on pilgrimage to worship him. When word of their inquiry got to Herod, he was terrified—and not Herod alone, but most of Jerusalem as well. Herod lost no time. He gathered all the high priests and religion scholars in the city together and asked, “Where is the Messiah supposed to be born?” ” Matthew 2:1-4 Message
God forewarns the magi to protect the coming child.
"In a dream, they were warned not to report back to Herod. So they worked out another route, left the territory without being seen, and returned to their own country. After the scholars were gone, God’s angel showed up again in Joseph’s dream and commanded, “Get up. Take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt. Stay until further notice. Herod is on the hunt for this child, and wants to kill him.” Matthew 2:12,13 Message
God chose to birth His Son on the earth during a dark season. The timing did not seem convenient from a human perspective, yet God always has a bigger long term purpose and perspective.
"Joseph obeyed. He got up, took the child and his mother under cover of darkness. They were out of town and well on their way by daylight. They lived in Egypt until Herod’s death. This Egyptian exile fulfilled what Hosea had preached: “I called my son out of Egypt.” Matthew 12:14 Message
14,000 Infants were killed by King Herod in Bethlehem. [Mattthew 2:16-18]
God tells Joseph when its time to move the young child Jesus:
"Later, when Herod died, God’s angel appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt: “Up, take the child and his mother and return to Israel. All those out to murder the child are dead.” Matthew 12:19 -20 Message
Your season of darkness is about timing...God's TIMING!
In the waiting, He prepares you for the next phase. In the waiting, He hides you from the world to launch you at His designated timeframe.
What is the vision, the mission hidden in your heart?
Are you waiting for life circumstances to change or be perfect before you act?
Are you waiting to see what others do first before you move?
What is the message stirring in your heart that you've been afraid of, or you're waiting for the perfect time to share?
God does GREAT WORK in seasons of darkness.
Trust Him, use this time to prepare yourself for when God gives the "green light" to unveil you.
Relax, draw near to God, and He will give the nod, or I call it the "GO" sign, meaning He has paved the way for YOU to go forward!
God still moves through your dark season, God moves when you think it's inconvenient, God moves when you are concerned about provision.
Remember, His thoughts are HIGHER than yours and His ways are GREATER than yours.
The "dark seasons" DO HAVE A PURPOSE...they are not to be dismissed or wasted.
Trust Him...it's time to move.
